Terms of Service

The fine print, without the fine print.

These are the terms under which we offer GPADLAB to you. By using the site, you agree to them. We've tried to write them in plain English, but a legal document is still a legal document — read it, and if anything's unclear, write to us.

The short version

Four things worth knowing

GPADLAB is free to use

All diagnostic tools, reviews, and content on GPADLAB are provided at no cost. There's no subscription, no paywall, no login required.

Provided as-is, no warranty

GPADLAB tests read your controller's inputs via your browser. We work hard to make them accurate, but we can't guarantee flawless results across every device, browser, and platform combination.

Diagnostic results are informational

A GPADLAB test suggesting your controller has drift is a useful signal — not a definitive diagnosis. Hardware issues sometimes need physical inspection or manufacturer support to confirm.

Governed by US (Delaware) law

Disputes arising from your use of GPADLAB are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. This is a global tech-industry standard.

The full terms

In detail

1. Agreement to these terms

By accessing or using GPADLAB (the "Service") — including the website at gpadlab.com, its diagnostic tools, reviews, and any related services — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, please don't use the Service.

These Terms may be updated from time to time. When we make substantial changes, we'll flag them in a prominent site banner for at least 30 days. Continued use of GPADLAB after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

2. What GPADLAB provides

GPADLAB is a free browser-based platform for testing game controllers. This includes: interactive diagnostic tools that use your browser's Gamepad API to read controller inputs; editorial content including reviews, buying guides, and troubleshooting articles; and a glossary of controller-related concepts and hardware.

All GPADLAB tools run entirely in your browser. We don't require accounts, don't require downloads, and don't require you to submit personal data to run diagnostics.

3. Acceptable use

You agree to use GPADLAB only for lawful purposes and in ways that don't restrict or inhibit others' use of the site. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to GPADLAB's systems or any related infrastructure
  • Use automated tools (scrapers, bots, crawlers) to extract content at scale without permission — normal search engine indexing is fine
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the site's servers or networks
  • Impersonate GPADLAB or misrepresent your affiliation with us
  • Use GPADLAB content to train commercial AI models without a separate written agreement
  • Distribute or republish GPADLAB content for commercial purposes without attribution and permission

4. No warranty

GPADLAB is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We work hard to make our diagnostic tools accurate and our editorial content correct, but we cannot guarantee that:

  • Every test will produce accurate results across every device, browser, and platform combination
  • The site will be available without interruption or free of errors
  • Diagnostic results will match the assessment of a manufacturer, repair technician, or warranty claim
  • Review recommendations will suit your specific use case or preferences

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

5. Limitation of liability

GPADLAB, its founders, contributors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or replacement costs of gaming equipment — arising from your use of the Service.

To the extent that we have any liability under these Terms, that liability is limited to one hundred United States dollars ($100), which is a reasonable estimate given that GPADLAB is provided for free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

6. Third-party content and links

GPADLAB reviews and links to third-party products, retailers, and manufacturers. We are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or terms of third-party sites or services. Links are provided as a convenience, not an endorsement of everything on the linked destination.

Product prices, availability, and specifications on third-party retailer sites change frequently. We check what we cite when we write, but we cannot guarantee that information remains current.

7. Affiliate relationships

GPADLAB participates in affiliate programs. When you buy through certain product links on our site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Product ratings and editorial recommendations are locked before any affiliate relationship is considered.

For details on how affiliate relationships work on GPADLAB, see our Affiliate Disclosure.

8. Intellectual property

All original editorial content on GPADLAB — reviews, guides, methodology documentation, diagrams, and site design — is the property of GPADLAB and protected by international copyright law.

You may quote short excerpts of GPADLAB content for non-commercial purposes with proper attribution and a link back to the source. For any use beyond fair use, please contact us.

Product names, brand names, logos, and trademarks referenced on GPADLAB belong to their respective owners and are used for descriptive, editorial, and comparative purposes under nominative fair use.

9. Copyright and DMCA

If you believe content on GPADLAB infringes your copyright, please send a notice to contact@gpadlab.com with the subject line 'DMCA'. Include: identification of the copyrighted work; identification of the material you claim is infringing (including its URL); your contact information; a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

We respond to valid DMCA notices promptly and will remove or disable access to the material at issue while investigating.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to GPADLAB at any time, for any reason, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 4, 5, 8, 12, and 13 — will survive.

11. Changes to the service

We may modify, add, or remove features of GPADLAB at any time. We may also change these Terms; substantial changes will be announced with 30 days' notice in a prominent site banner.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of GPADLAB will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in full effect.

13. Miscellaneous

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and GPADLAB regarding your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.

You may not assign these Terms or your rights under them without our written consent; we may assign these Terms without restriction.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms should be sent to contact@gpadlab.com. We aim to respond within a few business days.

These Terms are provided for transparency and information. They do not constitute legal advice. For questions about how they apply to your specific situation, consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.
